For an all-around book great for beginning knitters, this is a fun one. More appropriate for the new knitter since the projects are not very complicated.

For friend who has been knitting for a while and is designing her own projects, this is a great book. Lots of ruffle, fringe, and edging designs to inspire!

5) SIMPLE KNITS FOR SOPHISTICATED LIVING

A great book with lots of patterns for beautiful home accessories. Wonderful for a friend who would love new ideas for quick knit projects using fabulous, bulkier yarns.

6) VOGUE KNITTING ON THE GO: CROCHETED SCARVES

THE best crochet pattern book out there! Lots of different scarves and wraps to appeal to everyone. Unique textures and interesting stitchwork. (I'm biased since I have 4 patterns in here, but it really is a great book! Check out the rave reviews on Amazon!).

7) KNITTING WITH BEADS: 30 BEAUTIFUL SWEATERS, SCARVES, HATS & GLOVES

A nice book to give to a friend who loves to try out new techniques. Quite comprehensive on the topic of adding or using beads with your knitting.

A classy gift for any knitter. A pretty little book to keep track of all her projects.

9) CANDY BABIES: CUTE CROCHET FOR WEE ONES

A fun book with cute photos that will just make you smile. A great gift for the new mom who crochets.

10) SIMPLE KNITS FOR CHERISHED BABIES

Another great book for new moms or grandmoms. Lots of gorgeous, yet simple designs for babies. Uses thinner yarns and small needles (like sizes 3-5), so not ideal for those who want quick, bulky knit projects.
