Product Description

A classic wool scarf made even better with two columns of eye-catching cable work.

The two cable panels are actually the same cable, but staggered for maximum visual effect. The cable designs are easy to work, with basic cable twists and a unique (but simple) wrapped stitches technique. Perfect for a soft, worsted-weight yarn that shows stitch definition well, like the cashmere/merino blend used here.

Shown here with a pull-through slit. Can also be knit without slit and longer (two longer lengths included in instructions).

Cable design is charted and written.

This same cable design looks very handsome in the co-ordinating cable hat design (#255 Riley Hat), available separately. Knit both up, like I did, for a great gift set. There is also the #254 Riley Fingerless Gloves pattern.

Three lengths included: Pull-Through Short (Regular, Long).

Fave/Queue this pattern on Ravelry.

Finished Blocked Measurements: 9" [23 cm] width x 38 ½" (58 ½, 70 ½)" [98 (148.5, 179) cm] length.

Skill Level: intermediate-85.jpg

Yarn Used:
Knit Picks Capra DK (85% Merino/15% Cashmere); 1.75 oz/50 g [123 yds/112 m] per ball: 3 (5, 6) balls in Caviar #24963. NOTE: While this yarn is called "DK", it knits up like a worsted-weight yarn.

Gauge(s):
Pattern Gauge:
20 sts = 3" [8.5 cm] and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Braided Cluster Cable, blocked.
Yarn Label Gauge and Information:
A worsted-weight in a soft cashmere/Merino wool bland. Yarn label suggested gauge: 20 to 22 sts = 4' [10 cm] on size US 5 - 7 [3.75 - 4.5mm] needles. While Capra is listed as a DK-weight yarn, it is knit up more like a worsted-weight yarn here. For substituting, please use a soft worsted weight (not heavy worsted).
