Product Description

Calida is a girl's name of Greek and Spanish origin. Its meaning, "most beautiful; heated, with warmth," perfectly matches my new lace cocoon cardigan.

This stylish open cardigan is the epitome of elegance in a knitwear item! Gorgeous alpaca/silk yarn is knit in a lace stitch pattern with just enough openness to keep it light and airy, but not so much that the cardigan loses its structure.

The silk content of the yarn allows this piece to glide over your shoulders and drape beautifully over tank tops, maxi dresses, long-sleeve blouses, and so much more.

Its simple structure makes it an easy project to create (it's been my portable project for the last few weeks) and also the perfect item to fold flat to pack for your next weekend trip or summer escape.

The open front, cocoon silhouette is just what you'll reach for whenever there's the slightest hint of a chill. A sophisticated alternative to the rectangular or triangular shawls that require a shawl pin.

Fave/Queue this pattern on Ravelry.

Finished Knit Measurements: Approx measurement across back measured flat, between bust and waist: 13 ¾ (17 ¼, 21 ¾)" [35 (44, 55) cm]. Total length at center back measured flat (including ribbing) = 24 (25, 25 ¼)" [61 (63.5, 64) cm]. NOTE: When worn, length at center back (because the weight of the cardigan and the nature of alpaca stretches slightly downwards) is approx 26 ¼ (27 ¾, 28 ½)" [66.5 (70.5, 72.5) cm], NOT including the ribbed edging that sits in back of your neck.

  1. Calida Luxe Cocoon

Posted by Unknown on 2nd Nov 2020

Like the style of the sweater and instructions were easy to understand, plus like the style.
    Thank you!

  2. Lovely!

Posted by Debbie on 8th Apr 2016

The design is so stylish but is easy to pick up. The pattern is easy to follow and covers every aspect of knitting, making up and wearing. This is the second SweaterBabe pattern I have used and I have found each one lovely and a joy to make.

  3. Love the design

Posted by Barb on 18th Jul 2015

Just made this and absolutely love it. Many compliments. Made it with a slightly lighter yarn, so it is less substantial than the model, but can't wait to make it again with wool blend for winter.

  4. Gorgeous!

Posted by Sherry on 8th Jul 2014

I love this cocoon. The lace pattern is beautiful and it is a clever design. The pattern is a little hard to follow unless you take the advise to mark your size on the pattern and keep track of rows. However the fit is not so important so there is some room for "design changes". I used Universal Yarn Eden Silk and had to go up in needle size to 9 and 10 1/2. I live in Florida and this sweater is perfect for evening dinners in cold restaurants.

  5. Great pattern,

When I saw this pattern I HAD to have it. i cast it on immediately, and the emerging lace pattern is wonderful. Strongly recommend this.
