Product Description

Warmer weather is when the spaghetti straps and maxi dresses come out. But even in hot temps, I like to have pretty things to toss over my shoulders when I encounter indoor A/C or evening breezes.

Here's a modern solution with lots of boho flair! An allover lace pattern is worked in a chunky cotton for maximum texture and lovely openness. Kimono sleeves offer a dramatic touch and allow you to wear this over many types of outfits. The easy cropped shape and a gently curved V-neckline with simple 2-button closure finish the look.

On the bigger needles, this knits up fast in one piece. The only seaming is straight across along the kimono sleeve bottoms. You can seam more or less based on how you want it to fit at the bust.

Button holes are knit in. Edges are left raw, except for a row of single crochet along the back neck to prevent the natural tendency of this cotton to stretch over time --which I anticipate, as this will become a summer staple! (This edging could also be done as a simple knit edging, if you don't crochet.)

Yarn Used:
Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton (100% Cotton; 3.5 oz/100g [150 yds/137 m] per hank): 4 hanks in Color #80 Bone. NOTE: Sample used almost all of 3 hanks (not including swatch), but 4 hanks are recommended here to be safe..

Gauge(s):
Pattern Gauge:
11 sts and 16 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Lace patt. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO FULLY BLOCK YOUR SWATCH AND CHECK YOUR GAUGE, AS THE YARDAGE ESTIMATE IS BASED ON MATCHING THE GAUGE.
Yarn Label Gauge and Information:
A heavy worsted-weight or Aran-weight cotton yarn (yarn label of 4-5 sts = 1" [2.5 cm] on size 7-9 [4.5-5.5 mm] needles).

Approximate Total Yardage Required:

525 yds [480 m].  NOTE: This yardage estimate includes generous padding to allow for the substitution of other yarns, esp. non-cotton fibers. The Blue Sky Alpacas Worsted Cotton is a loosely-plied, 100% cotton yarn that was wet-blocked, stretched, and pinned to dry in order to achieve the Gauge given above and the Finished Measurements. Other yarns (esp. acrylic) may not stretch with blocking and could then require more yarn.
