Product Description

A vest that can make you feel instantly more gorgeous? This vest does just that! It's highly sophisticated with many well-thought out details.

It's worked from the bottom up in a pretty all-over lace pattern that is surprising simple to knit. Short rows are used to taper the front edges and allow them to hang at a seductive angle. Decreasing at the waistline creates a very flattering gathered effect, at which point the vest transitions into a nicely textured cable pattern in front and 2x2 ribbing in the back for a great fitted shape. Wide ribbed front bands are picked up and knit, as are the ribbed armbands. Then, the dramatic shawl collar is knit on and decreases are made to create a flattering, curved shape.

Closures are omitted to allow this vest to be worn many ways. Add a gorgeous pin to fasten it at the waist or higher up. Leave it open to showcase the angled front hem.

This piece will be a magnificent layering piece for all seasons, looking equally refined over a tank top, blouse, or dress. The only seaming is at the shoulders and the yarn is a luxe alpaca silk blend. Save this project to knit for yourself!

  1. Great sweater!

I love it. The directions were easy and very specific - you couldn't go wrong. It has a comfortable fit.

  2. Gorgeous!

Posted by A. Webster on 26th Nov 2012

I made this one using knitpicks "swish" worsted weight since the andean silk has been discontinued. The yarn was a perfect match to the gauge and it's super soft. I thought the sweater was easy to knit. It's my first sweater ever (though I have knit lots of cables and lace in the past, I was always scared to take on something so big). I just LOVE the design. It definitely looks like a $200 sweater. However, I have a 36 bust so I went with size medium even though I am a small in most clothing. I think it is a little big and probably should have gone with a small. Thankfully, with a shawl pin or a belt to go with, the size is forgiving.

  3. Just got my pattern

I just received my pattern and am now trying to find yarn that will work. The suggested yarn is no longer available. :( Will keep you posted on my progress.
