Product Description

A beautiful lace layer instantly elevates any outfit, especially when it's a hand knit version in a gorgeous, hand dyed yarn.

This shrug is also ultra feminine with its blousy sleeves and shoulder hugging shape.

The back is knit first in lace, starting with a provisional cast on. The lace is transitioned to Stockinette stitch as the back neckline is bound off and for the short row shaping of the shoulders. Stockinette stitch is continued for the fronts, with decreases to shape.

Sleeves are picked up and knit down to the wrists in lace, then gathered at the cuffs and finished in ribbing.

Lastly, the wide ribbed edge is picked up and knit in the round to complete the shrug shape.

This design knits up perfectly in the merino wool yarn shown here, which allows for the aggressive blocking needed to bring out the openness of the lace. Be sure your yarn choice can also be stretched out and blocked well to bring out the beauty of the delicate lace. Only 2 or 3 hanks are required of the madeline Tosh yarn used here, depending on the size.
