FREE Alpaca Ribbed Hat PDF Knitting Pattern
Product Description
Here's a super quick and easy ribbed hat that is sure to please! Knit in the round on circular needles, then finished with DPNs in a striking color combination.
Ribbing makes it very stretchy; alpaca makes it super soft and warm. Make it with the bold stripes as shown, or create your own color scheme. Unisex design.

Finished Knit Measurements: Unstretched Hat Circumference 15" (This is a VERY stretchy hat); Height 8".
Skill Level: 
Yarn Used: 1-100g/3.5oz skein (110yds/101m) of Reynolds Andean Alpaca Regal (90% Peruvian Alpaca/10% Wool) EACH in #02 Light Grey, #21 Charcoal Heather, and #16 Black.)
Gauge(s):
Pattern Gauge: Approximately 13 stitches = 3" and 9 Rounds = 2" in 2x2 Ribbing (UNSTRETCHED).
Yarn Label Gauge and Information: A heavy worsted yarn with a gauge of 16 sts = 4" [10 cm] on size 10 [6 mm] needles..
Total Yardage Required: Approx 80 yds [73 m] for each of the 3 colors.

Hat was very easy to make until I got to the part where you need to change to double pointed needles. They were awkward to use, probably too long for the project. I think the next time I make it I will change to a small circular needle instead. I used a chunky yarn the first time and am using double strand of worsted weight on the second one. The instructions are very clear, easy for a beginner to follow. I blocked mine so it wouldn't look so long and narrow.

Just finished making the hat-first time using
DPNs (self-taught)! Instructions were on the mark...Would recommend to everyone....Had a
problem with yarn I selected- went from thin to thick every few feet, otherwise hat turned out perfect and more importantly - FAST! -

Ideal pattern for men. Used chunky yarn to make a very warm hat, that's masculine. Made for people I know who work outdoors.

Hat worked up very nice and looked really good but it was way too small even though I worked up a gauge swatch and it was correct. Apparently my husband has a huge head. :)

I'm about halfway done--I think it's pretty easy and I'm hoping that the binding off will be a smooth transition, which I'm sure it will be. At first when I began, I thought it was going to be too big, but it definitely took shape as I got into the meat of the hat. I'm knitting with a beautiful lofty yarn called Ariosa; it's chunky but lightweight, 100% Merino by classic Elite Yarns. I found it on sale at a yarn store in Portland,OR that my new beau insisted on visiting. Yea me!

I was able to use the 5 pointed needle for the decrease and bind off section, because the pattern was easy to understand.
